Efforts Must Be Taken To Standardize Wireless Electric Vehicle Charging Systems with Rapid Increase in Demand for Electric Vehicles Worldwide
Standardization is vital to widespread deployment of wireless electric vehicle charging, both in the U.S. and worldwide, enabling any remotely equipped electric vehicle to utilize any standard electric charger. With global demand for electric vehicles increasing at a rapid pace, companies developing new EV technologies are working hard to meet customer demand. While some companies have had successful first-moves in markets such as the U.S., they still face a number of obstacles to the widespread adoption of electric vehicles worldwide. One such obstacle is lack of standards. Lack of standards allows companies to develop proprietary wireless electric vehicle charging systems that are different from those that are already in the market. This practice leads to a delay in the widespread adoption of wireless charging technology, and deters potential buyers of electric vehicles from making a purchase. Efforts must be taken to standardize wireless electric vehicle charging systems. E...
