  Highway crash cushions can be used for all types of crashes, from minor fender benders to multi-car collisions and pileups. They can be found in a variety of materials, from synthetic leather to specially made polyurethane foam cushions. One of the most popular highway crash cushions on the market today is the roll cage brace. Highway crash cushions are usually the secondary objects placed on highways to minimize the damage caused by a vehicle or other vehicle component causing an accident. In the past, highway crash cushions were made using steel bars that were placed along the highway to protect people and drivers from head-on impact. Many states used guardrails with the same purpose in mind.
