Brachytherapy Afterloader Is Used In Brachytherapy Cancer Treatment by Oncologists All Over the World Owing To the Efficacy of the Device
Brachytherapy afterloader is used in Brachytherapy cancer treatment that uses ultrasound beams. In the early part of using the Brachytherapy afterloader, the cancerous tumor is first injected with a small amount of saline solution that contains a chemical such as doxorubicin (brand name of doxycycline). It is also possible to administer the Brachytherapy drug directly into the bloodstream. The process is called "site localization" and the ultrasound waves are aimed at the affected site. This type of treatment is done only once the tumor has been surgically removed. The treatment using Brachytherapy afterloader is different from radiation therapy because it targets the cancerous cells directly. This minimizes the risk of side effects associated with radiation therapy such as skin discoloration, hair loss, nausea, and fatigue. Ultrasound is also used to treat tumors in other parts of the body, but Brachytherapy is more effective in treating leukemia and cancer of the blood.
