Video Event Data Recorder Records Technical Vehicle and Occupant Information for A Brief Period of Time Before, During and After A Crash

  As the video event data recorder (EDR) market in the U.S. has grown, so has the number of companies who offer these devices for sale. EDR records technical vehicle and occupant information for a brief period of time (seconds, not minutes) before, during and after a crash for the purpose of monitoring and assessing vehicle safety system performance. When an accident occurs that may be video-recorded, it is important that the footage is accurately collected and that it can be shared to effectively notify employees of the potential damage done and aid in the recovery efforts. While standard vehicle video recorders are designed to capture information related to accidents that occur on the road, there is another option available to use the black box recorder system.
