Picture archiving and communication system (PACS) is a medical imaging technology known for its economical storage and convenient access capabilities. In simple terms, PACS is a picture archiving and communications system that relies on four major components: image acquisition devices (imaging modalities), communication networks, archive and server, and integrated display workstations. Increasing adoption of diagnostic imaging for the treatment and management of various chronic diseases such as cancer and diabetes, has led to high demand for picture archiving and communication system (PACS).
