  Tallow, or copra, is a natural product that comes from the steam distillation of the oil from certain trees. When trees are tapped to get oil, tannin is produced. During the distillation process, oil passes through an absorbent layer on the top, where it is heated before it is transferred to a cooling vessel for further processing. Tallow, which is generally black in color, is very useful for fuel since it has a high smoke point and flame retardant properties. Tallow, which is commonly used as a lubricant and in personal care products, is made from the byproducts that result when tallow is processed. The tallow fatty acids present in the oil have great lipophlic activity that can prevent and eliminate a variety of lipid-soluble disorders, including atherosclerosis, cholesterol clogging, plaque formation, and eczema.
