Spectrophotometer - measures certain amounts of radiation or light various radioactive elements

  A spectrophotometer is an instrument that measures certain amounts of radiation or light. It was invented in the 1960s to measure the amount of radiation that is released from various radioactive elements. The device is made up of a tube with a mirror on its top and with a handle on the bottom side of the tube. The light that passes through the top of the tube strikes the mirror and it activates the detector which measures the amount of radiation that has been emitted. This instrument is very useful for medical uses. Doctors use it to diagnose certain diseases by determining how much radiation was released in the process. Aside from the medical uses, the Spectrophotometer can be used for non-medical purposes. Basically, there are two kinds of Spectrophotometers.
