Centrifugal Pumps Find Applications in Many Industries Including Oil Pumping, Dry Cleaning, Agriculture, Chemical Processing, and Water Pumping

Centrifugal Pump

Centrifugal pumps are used for a variety of applications in many industries in Germany. Some common uses include oil pumping, dry cleaning, agriculture, chemical processing, water pumping, and aerospace applications. A centrifugal pump can be classified according to their design. A Centrifugal Pump is a mechanical device used to move a fluid through a flow-wise mechanism by the transfer of rotational energy between a number of rotors, usually called impellers, driven by a shaft or a motor.

Centrifugal pumps are driven by two different methods. The power generated by such pumps is proportional to the velocity of the rotor or shaft. The second method used to power Centrifugal Pumps is a reciprocating motion. In such Centrifugal Pumps, the rotational energy generated is dependent on the movement of a fixed or movable part, such as an o-ring or a threaded rod.

Centrifugal pumps are generally classified into two categories: Centrifugal Self-Evaluating and Centrifugal Regulated. Centrifugal self-evaluate pumps operate according to the principles of centrifugal force and constant flow. The power generated by such Centrifugal Self-Evaluating Pumps is proportional to the rotation rate of the impeller blades. Centrifugal Regulated Pumps operate with the help of a regulating device such as a rotor. The liquid passing through the impeller is regulated according to a set flow, typically at a maximum and minimum pressure determined by the regulating device.

Centrifugal pumping is categorized into two different categories: positive displacement pumps and negative displacement pumps. Positive displacement pumps are used to suction water from high-pressure areas. On the other hand, negative displacement pumps are used to suction dry materials such as coolants, hydraulic oils, and compressed air from low-pressure areas. Centrifugal pumps that are used for positive displacement pump function by increasing the fluid velocity in a manifold fashion. In these pumps, the power generated is directly proportional to the difference in velocity between the first and the last chamber.

Centrifugal pumps can be used to suction fluids through three types of discharge lines: wet pipe, dry pipe, and dry suction. Wet pipe discharge system involves the introduction of water in the pipes at high speed. On the other hand, dry pipe system involves the drying of the gases and the liquids at very high speed. On the other hand, dry suction pump can be used in the high speed refrigeration lines, for the de-cooling of refrigerants. Centrifugal pumps can also be used in the geothermal applications, where high temperature fluids are pumped for generating energy.
