Continuous Passive Motion Devices Are Sued For Physical Exercises Where the Motion Repairs the Stiff Joints, Muscles, and Tissues of the Body
Continuous
passive motion devices are used all over the world, including in regions such
as Japan, Mexico, and Germany. Continuous passive motion devices are machines
that provide continuous, non-stop, independent movement in any direction
without the use of mechanical power or any external force. Continuous passive
motion devices are commonly used in the early stage of rehabilitation after a
soft tissue injury or surgical procedure. They are also used by physical
therapists in their practice to help patients overcome movement limitations and
improve range of motion, flexibility, strength, and muscle control.
Many
people may be familiar with this particular type of exercise equipment if they
have seen commercials or pictures on television for other kinds of fitness
equipment such as an elliptical or treadmill. These kinds of continuous
passive motion devices are not continuous passive motion machines, but
many people confuse the two. Elliptical machines, treadmills, cross-trainers,
and other fitness equipment can provide the same kind of continuous motion that
the power stair climber motorized machine does, but they require the user to
push themselves instead of being pushed by the machine. These types of machines
are not recommended for individuals with knee or lower back injuries because
they are too high off the ground to do the exercise safely.
In
regions such as Japan, owing to people's inclination towards health and fitness
there are several fitness clubs, and they use various continuous passive motion
devices. For instance, according to the Fitness Industry Association of Japan,
in 2019, there were around 6.2 thousand fitness clubs present in Japan. Continuous passive motion devices are
typically powered by a stair climber. A stair climber resembles a set of steps
or a staircase that is not always moving up and down. The user puts his or her
feet into the foot pedals, which move up and down on a rail or metal track.
There are some models of this fitness equipment that include a hand crank on
the side which can be operated by the individual to increase the amount of
energy that is powered by the user's muscles.
