Gas Sampling Line; Used To Deliver Gas Samples for Measurement of Respiratory Gases
Gas sampling line options are numerous and the first thing
that one needs to consider is the type of gases being tested. There are
different types of testing gases available for gas sampling such as volatile
organic compounds (VOC), particulate matter, pesticides, lead, temperature and
others. The various models of these lines include portable and permanent
models. Gas sampling lines come with male/male luer fittings. Male connectors
are usually made of rigid clear flexible plastic and include a forward
midstream sampling fitting and are also compatible with some models of gas
analyzers.
Different types of gas
sampling lines include: wet-cell and dry-cell. Wet-cell model includes
a dual moving coil and a wet loop electrode that are enclosed in a rigid
sleeve. This model is known for high reliability and durability even under
heavy pressure and high temperatures. The wet-cell model uses a float arm to
gather the CO2 data. Dry cell model includes a single or dual moving
coil that supplies the CO2 measurement. It has a removable wet and
dry collecting arm. These types of gas sampling lines are less reliable than
wet-cell models.
Most experts recommend the end-tidal CO2 method
which uses two electrodes positioned at different levels near the coastline.
The measurements are taken at various stations located along the coast over a
period of several months. Another important type of gas sampling lines gas
analyzer includes the closed system gas analyzer and the open system gas
analyzer. The closed system uses stainless steel tubing inside the reservoir
where the sample is collected. The open system does not have any type of
protective covering over the sampling point.
Oxygen, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, oxygen, and other gaseous
pollutants are separated through the sample tubing. Gas sampling lines can also
be used to deliver gas samples to the capnometer for monitoring the respiratory
gases. It is widely used to diagnose various diseases, such as pneumonia,
pulmonary edema, etc. Thus, with the increasing prevalence of aforementioned
diseases, the demand for gas sampling line is also increasing with a rapid
pace. In 2019, around 136,781 cases of pneumonia were recorded in Mexico, while
in 2018, around 94.7 thousand cases of pneumonia were recorded in Japan.
