Sterile lancets is an advanced medical device gaining popularity in healthcare sector for collecting blood sample
Sterile
lancets or simply lancing is a specialized medical device utilized for venous
blood sampling. Blood lancets are comparable to a large scalpel but with a
single-bladed needle or double-bladed blade. This instrument is used to draw
out tiny blood samples, including those in the eye and the nose. Blood lancers
are commonly disposable. Sterile
lancets usually contain a needle and a blade made of metal; the smaller the
sample the smaller the blade needs to be. This device helps collect a blood
sample that is thin enough so that the cannula is not forced through the blood
vessel
The
collection of a blood sample may be necessary for many reasons: to test a
patient's medical condition, diagnose a disease, or monitor the progress and
performance of an ongoing treatment process. In the case of a venous stasis
ulcer, for instance, a doctor may use a lancer to take a sample of a vein that
appears healthy but contains a defect that may be harmful. Other collection
procedures, such as in the case of a spider ulcer, involve a procedure where a
needle is inserted into the heart, a catheter is passed through it and into the
vein. In this case, the spider veins are simply removed from the body.
During
an acute attack of severe pain, it is common for a physician to try several
procedures in order to relieve the patient's suffering. One of the most
frequently used methods of dealing with deep vein thrombosis (or DVT) is
clipping or wearing a cannula clip, which holds the cannula tip just above the
skin. This reduces blood loss and reduces the discomfort. The longer the clip
is held above the skin, the lower the risk of blood clots.
