Crowdsourced smart parking combines human innovation and technology, in an effort to use as few resources as possible to achieve denser, easier, and faster parking of vehicles for the majority of time they remain idle. The parking problem has been one of the biggest and challenging problems in big cities. Crowdsourced smart parking helps drivers identify parking spots through electronic street panels or smartphones. The system collects and delivers real-time parking data and helps drivers find an empty parking spot. This system can be installed in several public spaces, such as residential communities, hospitals, office buildings, shopping malls, airports, etc.

The crowdsourced smart parking system provides data regarding vacant parking spots available for parking, which is helpful to avoid congestion on-street as well as off-street. The system aims to automate and decrease time spent on manually searching for a parking spot. Traffic congestion has increased globally during the last decade. The major cause of traffic congestion is the high number of vehicle which was caused by the population and the development of economy. For instance, German roads experienced a record 745,000 traffic jams in 2018, the ADAC (Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club) Germany. The crowdsourced smart parking system can help solve this problem.
